I’ve been teaching music to young children for 40 years and this book has my best ideas for inspiring kids to enjoy learning about music. I know how busy life is as an educator, so I KEEP IT SIMPLE! This book will show how to use every rhyme and song across the ages in a VARIETY of ways, with easy-to-follow sequences for each activity so you are actually building skills from Birth to School. There are links to websites to hear a tune. There are simple reference pages explaining musical terms and what instruments to buy.
I completely understand that so many adults missed out on getting the musical start in life they deserved – it’s NOT YOUR FAULT! The content has been designed to make it accessible for teachers, music background or not. The bonus is the more you use these ideas, the more your music skills will improve too!
If you can’t read music, there are plenty of spoken rhymes, plus tunes you’re likely to know with the words adapted. Both these options create lively activities that will keep little ones engaged. “Cheat sheets” are in the back, so on a busy day, you can pop the page open to help you with the words.
